Crow eating continues

Following on the heels of the Tony Batista release, Terry Ryan has traded Juan Castro to the Reds. Rejoice!

Castro was batting .231 with one home run and 14 RBI in 50 games with the Twins. He opened the season as the starting shortstop after Jason Bartlett failed to win the job in spring training. But Bartlett was called up from Class AAA Rochester on Wednesday and is expected to play every day. Castro was miscast as an everyday player, and his meager offensive output was even more glaring this month, as he entered Thursday with a .192 batting average in June. He’s been a career utility player before this season.

So now the local paper tells it like it is.

(I’d like to add I find it very interesting that these two moves happened so close together. What with the apparent disagreements Gardy and Terry Ryan had with the roles of Castro and Batista.)
