Bush released a document apparently defining a strategy for Iraq. A little late, about time, what was he waiting for, etc, etc, etc. But I’m trying to determine if I should read it in entirety or just allow the news filter to give me the highlights. What are you going to do?

I’m assuming that it’s the same-old, same-old, and the rhetoric will have little to do with the plans his cabal actually have in mind, unless I hear otherwise from any sources I trust. I’ve heard predictions that the real plan is something like Nixon’s “Vietnamization” pullout plan, in which US troops slowly draw down while bombing runs increase. The US would then maintain bases in Iraq, but American casualties presumably would decrease as more of the warfare is conducted by bombers and fighter jets. That sounds like Rumsfeld thinking to me.
For as much as I am learning to hate Rummy, that man has got to be burnt out. Even if he was doing a good job, I don’t know how he can stay on in that position for so long. It’s got to be torture.
