This baseball offseason is just boggling my mind. Rangers trade Soriano for, not pitching, but more hitters. Nationals trade for a second baseman who can’t hit at all outside of Arlington. A horrible fit for a pitcher’s park…and they’re hoping he agrees to play outfield. The Red Sox trade a shortstop away after trading their monster shortstop prospect. In return they grab a monster third base prospect when they already have two reasonable options (Lowell and Youklis) at third. Hmmm…maybe the Twins will be getting one of those guys.
B.J. Ryan was bad enough. Then Hector Carrasco gets $3 million per year. Now Todd Jones gets $5.5 million per year. Todd Jones! At this point Joe Nathan has got to be worth a top 10 third baseman and a top 10 designated hitter. Make the deal, Terry. You ain’t getting a better bang for the buck anytime soon.
