I can already see Sports Guy’s article ripping Petey’s/USC’s coaching.
a) Go for it on 4th and 1, but maybe use the best running back in the game. On that run, Bush could have easily popped it outside. I realize he wasn’t having his greatest game and the other guy was running well, but still. Bush could have ran it up the middle, too. The defense would have been softer there because they’d have to be ready for an outside run with Bush in the game.
b) Didn’t watch the whole game, but why weren’t they shadowing Young at the end? Earlier in the drive he ran for a first down in a 4th down situation (or was it a 3rd down situation?). How could you not shadow him once Texas neared the goalline? Were their DB’s that bad that no man could be spared?
c) Not having your team prepared for the obvious 2 point conversion at the end, resulting in a wasted timeout. I know this was probably largely the players’ faults, but I think coaching has something to do with it.

Still, you have to admit, it was an awesome game to watch. I was going for USC, but switched to Texas in the second quarter….mainly due to their ridiculously hot cheerleaders. Those chaps are friggin’ awesome!
Anyhoo, much will be made of Young’s performance, and yes, he is awesome. He’s not a god, though. USC kinda blew it there in the 4th quarter and that had a lot to do with their loss. It was truly a clash of titans, though. We got to see at least 3 NCAA superstars put on an amazing tilt.
I would love to see the Vikes dump Daunte and pick up Young. I would have no problem with that.
It was an awesome game. I wish I could replace watching the first quarter with the third quarter. I didn’t watch any of the third quarter. The first quarter was fairly boring.
The Sports Guy article ripping Pete Carroll, among other things, is up.
