Man, that guy rakes the Twins. Six hits so far in this week’s series. Or at least I thought hit well against the Twins. Adam Kennedy only has a .232 AVG/.604 OPS in his career against the Twins (before tonight), so I guess not. But it sure seems like he NEVER STOPS HITTING. I suppose this game might color my opinion a bit.
(I don’t have the energy to point out all the people who claim Tony Batista somehow has a superior ability to have important hits at just the right time. I do remember reading in the ether how Batista could pull these things off and players like Morneau and Cuddyer could never come up big in a pressure situation. Well, Morneau has had a huge 3-run homer and a game-ending single in the first couple weeks and now Cuddyer, in limited at bats, just hit a walk off 2-run dinger in extra innings. Nope, sirs, hitting ability is more-or-less independent of the situation. No, Tony Batista’s career stats should not be weighted because he magically gets the few hits he gets at the most impactful time.)
