I personally don't believe that M&T think of themselves as any more than entertainers, and I am perfectly fine with their right to make an episode like this. I moreso have a gripe with the satire. It was too disconnected and "out there" and all-in-all ineffective.

Jon Stewart once said, somewhere, that he hates when his crowd cheers. His crowd should be laughing, not cheering. This is where M&T seem to be dipping into the territory Luke finds distasteful - almost hoping for cheers rather than laughter.

I'll give them a pass. They've earned a lot of passes in my book. But I'll be keeping my eye on it.

As you well know, I found it to be both profoundly stupid in its immaturity and completely unwatchable. Neither of the extremes on the climate change issue are right. But there are good points that both sides are making. Note that when I talk about "both sides" I'm talking about the political, what to do, sides.

The science, however, is pretty crystal clear....the planet is getting warmer. People can talk all they want about what to do, who's fault it is, etc., but the facts of the matter don't lie.

Are Matt and Trey saying that because this is an issue they clearly don't buy, that the science...tested, reviewed science...is all baloney? I don't think that's a responsible position for anyone to take, even if they just consider themselves entertainers. M&T clearly see themselves as some sort of ironic cultural commentators, and certainly more than entertainers.
