Hail

So, for the first time in, I don’t know, forever, we parked our vehicles outside last night. See, we have a patio going in and the work crew is obviously making heavy use of our garage for equipment storage. So we just left the cars out in the street. Easier that way.

At 5 AM this morning we awoke to the pitter-patter (slam-bam) of hailstones on our roof. We rarely ever, maybe once each year, park a car outside when we are at home. On the morning of hail both of our vehicles sat in the street, exposed. This includes Mon Jetta.

Out we run. Well, The Wife actually arrived at the vehicles first. She has a much better wake-up-and-act instinct than I. She also felt no need to grab some cardboard from the garage for cover. She risked head trauma for these cars, and naturally I had to follow suit and run out, skull-be-damned, right behind her.

The cars are back in their home. I don’t think there was any damage, though washing the Jetta tonight I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see a few new scratches. Needless to say, the adrenaline of at all never allowed me to get back to sleep.

I’d be more concerned about dents than scratches. It takes a lot to dent good, German steel though.

Oh wait, your Dub was made in Mexico :(

Yeah, give it a good look-see.

I would be more concerned about dents as well. I ran my hand over a lot of the car and felt no dents. Scratches would be much harder to detect in the dawn on a wet, slightly-dirty car.

If you can’t feel them you’re probably okay. We’ll have another polish session this fall to remedy any other issues. My car already needs wax again…
