I was pleasantly surprised to hear the Oscar announcements this morning and the nominations lavished upon Minnesota-tied No Country for Old Men and Juno. Unfortunately I have yet to see Juno, but I can vouch for No Country for Old Men. What an excellent movie.

D’Angelo is a talented musician. One superficially minor talent he has, which actually turns out to be quite important, is musical taste. Here he is with David Sanborn et al. performing a cover of Bill Withers’s “Use Me.” Hopefully we’ll get another midnight-laced D’Angelo album yet this decade.

I recently ordered the new albums by M.I.A. and Rilo Kiley from Best Buy. A pretty good release date sale of $7.99 for each disc enticed me.
